Welcome back to the physical world—an invitation to immersive yourself in the art of making.
Huang Xiaozhe hosts glass lampworking workshops in Venice in her working atelier, located in Castello, a 10-minute walk from San Marco Square and overlooking the Venetian lagoon.
Rooted in a contemporary jewellery practice, these workshops offer a focused introduction to glass as a material
Each session welcomes a maximum of two guests, allowing for close guidance and a personal learning experience. All tools and materials are provided. No prior experience is required. Bookings are arranged individually based on availability.
Prices are listed per person for private one-to-one sessions. For two guests attending together, a 20% discount applies per person.
Workshop Progression
Experience Workshop – 2 Hours | €120
• Introduction to glass lampworking and working with flame
• Learn how glass softens, moves, and responds to heat
• Explore fundamental hand movements and heat control
• Techniques: gathering, pulling, and simple shaping
• Create a first small piece, such as a ring or pendant
Entry Workshop – 5 Hours | €280
• Focus on shaping and controlling form in molten glass
• Develop skills in flame control and tool use
• Learn to create balanced and refined shapes
• Techniques: forming spheres, discs, and spirals
• Create multiple glass jewellery pieces, including earrings
Experiment Workshop – 10 Hours | €500
• Explore surface, pattern, and personal expression
• Learn timing and temperature control for decorative work
• Combine techniques to create variation in colour and form
• Techniques: stringers, dots, layering, encasing, textures
• Create a series of more complex, decorative pieces
Collection Workshop – 20 Hours | €1000
• Design and develop a cohesive jewellery collection
• Refine technique and improve consistency
• Work with traditional Venetian methods in a contemporary way
• Techniques: millefiori, murrine, Zanfirico, silver leaf, avventurina
• Create a personal collection of rings, earrings, and pendants
